American Idol

Yeah, I know ¾ of you detest American Idol with a violent, seething passion rarely seen in the history of time. But I’m still writing about it because I freaking love it. I love pretty much all of the talent reality shows though. It’s not really the snarkiness and sarcasm of the show. I used to watch Star Search faithfully when I was a child. American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and Last Comic Standing are just an extension of that show for me.

I do understand those who hate the show though. I detest Dance Wars with Carrie and Bruno. I watched that for 15 minutes last week, walked away, and wanted to shoot myself in the head repeatedly. Dear God. It’s like a Brady Bunch musical special fast-forwarded into the 21st century. And the romance reality shows like The Bachelor and Flavor of Love make me want to run around with a pair of scissors and a bottle of Novocaine neutering everybody I come into contact with.

So anyways… Yay! American Idol’s back on! Kayla (the girl in the car crash) belongs in a New Age retreat and is so the next Sanjaya if she gets through to the top 20. Douglas (the chubby guy in the orange shirt sucking down water and walking in circles) and Paula’s stalker terrify me. And I have a mad crush on the insane Japanese guy in the feathery pimp-daddy costume at the end of last night’s show.

You're scaring me. Is this another break from reality?!? --- Actually, I must be a little schizophrenic myself because part of me detests it, and another kinda likes it. --- Keep us posted, crazy girl! ; )

Haha, not at all. I've been obsessed with AI since the start of the show. I kinda hate its popularity though. People feel obliged to watch it so that they can keep up with the talk around the 'water cooler'.

Yeah, I bet that's true for a lot of people. Seasons 3 (Fantasia) and 6 (Jordan) bored the crap out of me and I stopped watching halfway through.
