April 22, 2008

I meant to post this Sunday, the day it happened. Somehow, I blanked it out and just found it in my offline journal.

Coming home from Uptown, I was riding down the Midtown Greenway. Since it was a freakishly warm weekend, the trails were packed. Walking towards me was a middle-aged black woman and (I assume) her two young children. Behind me, I heard:

Male Cyclist: It smells like chicken.
Female Cyclist (in a slightly horrified tone): I think those people thought you were mocking them.
Male Cyclist: What? Oh, no! I wasn't...
Me: *tries not to laugh and fails miserably*

Right when the female spoke up, I was thinking, 'Omfg, did he just say that?!?'. But
I think the family knew. Somebody was barbecuing nearby and it really did smell like chicken.

Situations like that are always embarrassing but equally funny!

Smelled like chicken here tonight in the lovely Roxiticus Valley, NJ, too...one of our neighbors must have been grilling.

Not much of a biking town, though.

Voted for you in Battle of the Blogs...have a great night.

Jillian - Heh, I was this close to flinging my water bottle at him for saying that in front of kids. Good thing the girl spoke up!

Roxiticus - Hmm, I'll look at SocialSpark. I'm trying to keep the widgets on my sidebar down though.

Ashley - Awesome! :)
