Wood Lake Nature Center

For years, I've been meaning to visit the Wood Lake Nature Center in Richfield, MN but never got around to it. Since it was nice out and my internet connection was (still is) being testy, I decided to change that today. Bicycles, rollerblades, and pets aren't allowed so I walked some of the trails. I wasn't very pleased with the photos I took. Maybe all the brown is starting to depress me. I might go back in a month or so when the vegetation brightens up.

All of the park benches I've come across in Richfield have plaques dedicating the bench to a person or couple. The city must have had some kind of sponsorship program for the benches in years past. Maybe they still do. I'm not sure.

I came upon this guy (or girl. I don't know.) just before crossing the marsh. He didn't move an inch even when I walked a few inches past him. Francis's previous comment about violent geese in Chicago flashed through my brain and I briefly wondered if I was going to get pecked to death by a psychopathic goose.

Since that would be an embarrassing trip to the hospital, I scurried past and continued across the boardwalk.

And it ends with a shot of the condo complexes with bazillion* dollar monthly association fees that overlook the nature reserve.

*$600/month is close enough to a bazillion dollars a month in my world. Remember, that's after you buy the condos themselves for $200k or more.

Aww... a real boardwalk! That's pretty cool.

I think when they're solo, geese may be less crazy. They get brave in groups ... sort of like people. $600 is a lot for an assessment ... almost as much as my rent.

Jillian - It was cute.

Francis - Probably. I've noticed the geese seem to move more when in groups.

It is! Granted, it's got a nice view and location (close to downtown and 2 major shopping malls) but it's still a little steep.

Roxiticus - Haha, okay, I'll try.

Stopped by to vote for you in Battle of the Blogs...out enjoying my deck on another fine summerlike spring day in the Roxiticus Valley. Keep the great pix coming!
