March 28, 2009

I did end up going on a quick walk yesterday afternoon. I meant to go a little farther but, as soon as I left the house, I could feel the wind and cold biting through my jacket. I immediately changed my mind and did a much shorter loop around a local park instead. As I reached the halfway point, I looked up and saw a tiny white ball of fur headed toward me.

'Eeee! Bichon Frise!' I squealed to myself and bent down to pet the dog. It was unleashed and seemed to grin at me as I ruffled the top of its head. I scanned the pathways of the seemingly empty park and asked, "Hey, where's your owner?" A few seconds passed and I started to worry just a bit. Did it escape from a yard somewhere? Was I going to have to take it home and put up "Found" posters everywhere? Another few seconds passed and the owner appeared from behind some trees calling out, "Hey, boy! C'mere!". I sighed with relief and told the dog, "There he is! Go to your owner." while a little part of me thought, 'Damn! I've always wanted one'. The dog trotted away and I finished my walk.

Normally, I don't squeal and coo over every dog that I pass in the park but I love, love, love that breed (and Chihuahuas). They're so tiny and adorable. See Harvey below.
