Too Long for Twitter...

I've been reading tour reviews on a website. They're basically just short recaps of what happened at concerts. The thing that bothers me is you'll occasionally come across a review that says 'Oh my God! The audience was so dead! I was singing along to every song!' All I can think of in reply to those people is "Really? And nobody cold-cocked you upside the head?!?" I go to a concert to see and hear the singer and musicians perform. Excuse me if I don't want to hear Bob from accounting's rendition. Really, people, if you must sing along, mouth the lyrics. (/rant)

I went to see Alicia Keys at NJPAC a few years back. There was almost a fistfight (wrestling match?) between a very large (tall) man and a very large (obese) woman because the woman was singing off key at the top of her lungs, even during the slow (quieter) songs, so loud that none of us could hear the music we had paid to enjoy... the man tried to reason with her and then threw something at her... it was ugly.

P.S. -- I also have to laugh at some of the comments people have made about my "reviews." As my loyal Roxiticus Desperate Housewives readers know, I'm not a critic, I tell stories. I found a link to my post about Joan Jett at the Morristown Community Theatre on a forum, along with the note, "who the hell cares what her kids had for dinner??!!"

Well said! :)

I love your blog, and that Oscar Wilde quote happens to be one of my favorites.

Rock on, girl :)

Roxy - Haha, that guy's my new hero. Yeah, I'm sure that all the hits I got from Google to my latest concert 'review' got a few people who thought 'Who cares about the theater it was in?!?'.

Wilmaryad - Mine too. I'm never removing that quote. :)
